Best Campsites in (or Near) Jasper National Park

If you’re heading out West to enjoy some of the spectacular fall colours that will soon be making an appearance, here’s a list of some amazing campgrounds to help you experience autumn in all it’s glory.

Have you always wanted to explore the Canadian Rockies? As you plan an upcoming vacation, choose the campsites you would like to visit so you can put up your tent and enjoy the beautiful nature in the area. There is so much to experience outdoors, especially since Jasper National Park is the second-largest Dark Sky Preserve. So, you can go stargazing without the interference of light pollution in the area.

Choose from these popular campsites to ensure that you have an unforgettable trip with your loved ones:

  1. Whistlers Campground: If you want something convenient and close to Jasper’s main town area, Whistlers is an ideal option to consider. Not only is it convenient, but it offers all the amenities you need for a family-friendly campsite.
  2. Wapiti Campground: Not only does this campground offer many amenities like hot showers, flushing toilets, RV hookups, and picnic shelters, but it puts you in the perfect location to access nearby attractions. Camp here if you plan to visit the Valley of the Five Lakes Hike or the Jasper SkyTram.
  3. Honeymoon Lake Campground: Schedule a trip with your love to this unserviced campground for a romantic getaway. The area is quiet and pristine, making it the perfect place to wake up in a peaceful environment. The campground is located near a lake with fresh, crystal-clear water as well as a waterfall in the area.
  4. Pocahontas Campground: When planning to soak in the Miette Hot Springs, it can be convenient to pick a campsite nearby. At this campsite, you don’t have certain luxuries. But the basics are available, including flushing toilets and running water.
  5. Wabasso Campground: For easy access to Athabasca Falls and Mt. Edith Cavell, the Wabasso campground is a great option to consider. This popular campground has many conveniences, such as an outdoor sink for washing, drinking water, and toilets. Keep in mind that there is a limited phone signal in the area, making it the perfect location to unplug.
  6. Snaring Campground: If you find it relaxing to sleep near the sound of a river, this campsite is a great option. Additionally, the Canadian Pacific Railway Train comes through the area occasionally, providing a fun opportunity for the kids to spot the train in the distance.
  7. Wilcox Creek Campground: This camping location is named after the nearby attraction: Wilcox Pass (one of the most popular hiking destinations for day trips). The campground is located near the trailhead. Available facilities are basic and include outsources, rustic features, and picnic tables.
